Packers' CEO Takes Private Jet South, Asking Favre to Stay Home
BREAKING NEWS
From the Green Bay Press-Gazette: "The Green Bay Packers on Tuesday night sent team president and CEO Mark Murphy on a private plane to visit Brett Favre in Mississippi in an attempt to persuade the quarterback to stay home rather than report to training camp this week." Read Article
This move is inconsistent with what coach Mike McCarthy said earlier today and is unfortunately the all-too-familiar double talk that the Packer administration has been guilty of over the last few weeks.
Even though our SaveBrett.net Movement is beginning to have a positive effect it is clear that our work is far from over.
Our mission has never been clearer or more urgent. For the good of the game Packer fans, Favre fans, and football fans everywhere must speak up now to ensure that a genuine American hero is treated properly by Green Bay Packer management.

I consider myself to be a Packer fan first and then a Brett Favre fan. That said, I've really tried to look at both sides of this nasty situation. However, there's no sugar coating Murphy's flight to Hattiesburg tonight. The Packers management outright lied to the public, and have done themselves no favors in what is already a PR nightmare. It makes me wonder what else they've lied about to Brett and to us as the public.
While Brett is not without fault in this situation as a whole, he did not have to agree to meet with Murphy in Hattiesburg tomorrow morning. I think it's terrible that the Packers are contradicting themselves in this fashion; this is not the way you treat and "welcome back" your HOF QB. I truly am embarrassed of and for Packers managment tonight.
This article & the ESPN article earlier says it all. The management knows that if Brett shows up to Training camp....it is ALL over! Brett will be BACK! YAHOO! Thanks to the boys on savebrett.net!
I can't wait for Brett to show up. I hope there will be a huge crowd that will give him a standing ovation and cheer him on. I think they are trying to keep the time that he will be there form the fans. I hope everyone will wear their # 4 Jersey's. Go Brett Go!!!!
If Brett or his people read this, report to camp no matter what is asked of you. Murphy is down there to avoid a circus at minicamp, but according to McCarthy and some of his teammates, Brett would be welcomed back? The Packer's Front Office cannot win in this situation no matter what. Clearly, this movement, recent press at ESPN calling Thompson out on his waffling are beginning to frighten the Packers because clearly Brett is in the driver's seat now. I think that he made a mistake not showing up on Sunday. I believe he should follow through and show up on Friday no matter what.
Just when you feel you have gotten somewhere, Bam!!! the organization slaps you back down. Poor Brett. I can only hope Brett is on the next plane to Green Bay. But if this sick organization is this bent on not having him back, Murphy better have those RELEASE papers with no stings with him to sign.
I think this is totaly insane they way the Packers have handled this with Brett. I grew up during the lean years and it sucked. I inderstand the "moving on" part, but shouldn't they want to put the best people on the field to win a Super Bowl. Point blank, that is the question that needs to be asked. If Favre is the QB that gives them the best chance, he should play and vice versa. Anything less then putting the best people on the field, then maybe someone should lose their job over this. This is nuts. Obviously, if the Packers want to govern where Favre goes because they do not want to face him, then he must have enough in tank or is enough of a threat, that he should be starting. I have been a Packer fan all of my life, but if Brett goes to another team, then I may have to root for that team until he does retire. I have very mixed feelings on how the management handled the whole situation. Brett is not faultless either. I am not sure of I can back the Pack much longer if they continue to force Favre to stay away. This is not how you treat someone who gave so much for so long. Let him come in and honestly complete for the starting job and the best man wins. That is how you win Super Bowls. There is no room for egos here. Wins and losses is what is boils down to.
Wow, A $20mil bribe to stay home!! Negociating with NFC North!!
Where most observers and fans were kind of sad at the whole situation, but supportive of managements position, recent developments certainly swing the monentum in favor of Farve. What in the world are the Packers thinking???? Can you imagine Jerry Jones or Tom Kraft letting this happen?? Never - they don't have their rear end to protect - they just do what is in the best interest to the team.
