Its Not Tampa Bay ... Brett Traded to Jets
Green Bay Packers and Brett Favre Schedule Separate Press Conferences for Today
Since it was announced we have been hoping that our source was wrong about news that Brett Favre had been traded to Tampa Bay. It turns out our source was wrong but not in the way we had hoped ... Brett Favre has been traded ... to the New York Jets.
FOX Sports was the first to report the story which has been published by others including ESPN, CBS Sportsline, and The New York Times. Here is something we never thought we'd live to see.
Petition signatures have quickly surpassed the 20,000 mark as fans sign in protest of Packer management's decision to trade Brett and in support of and respect for a true Packer legend.
Why is Brett Favre no longer a Green Bay Packer? According to ESPN.com it's "the simple yet mind-boggling fact that Packers management thinks Favre isn't good enough to win." Meanwhile "Favre-mania" is currently gripping the Jets Nation as their website reportedly experiences over 100,000 visitors per hour.
The Green Bay Packers have announced a press conference for Thursday, August 7th at 12PM, CST. The press conference will be available to view LIVE online by clicking here. According to Packers.com a video window will appear on this page five minutes before the start of the press conference. Brett Favre will hold a press conference tonight at 5PM, CST - as a Jet.
Sign the petition in protest of this terrible decision by the Green Bay Packers management.

It turns out that our source was wrong. Brett Favre is in fact being traded but not to Tampa Bay ... he is going to the Jets.
Why did we publish the Tampa Bay story?
A
source very close to Brett Favre's family informed us that the trade to
Tampa Bay was a done deal. The source we used for the Tampa Bay story
had tipped us to breaking news three times before this story and was
exactly right all three times. Thus, he had earned (and still has) a
tremendous amount of credibility with us.

All I can say is WOW..... The unbelievable has become believable....
LOL Tony. What happened to that "worldwide exclusive" your crappy site had yesterday?
Brett is gone, thank God. Take your ugly wife with you, you dumb hayseed.
Mike McCarthy and Ted Thompson are the clear winners in this. Well done, gents. This franchise and ALL of it's fans are forever indebted to you guys. Well played.
Have fun going 4-12 next year, Brett. You are no longer welcome here. We shouldn't even retire his number. Give it to a kicker or something, lol.
This site sucks. I'm gone, just like Brett.
Guess it must have been the petition the Jets fans had, because we all know how effective those online petitions are.
I thought he was going to get traded to Tampa Bay. Oh well, New York fits him well. Despite what has happened for the past month, I wish Brett the best. Hell I might even get myself a Brett Favre Jet jersey but all I know is that I am a Packer backer for life.
Wow. Its over?
Despite not being a packer fan, I applaud Mr. Mars and his website. It will be different seeing Brett not in a GB uniform.
This is better for all parties involved. Favre goes to a team that wants to try and win this year, but who knows if they will. They want him there as well and he can be effective and maybe change their franchise. The Pack gets the chance to move towards the future which has been/and should be there goal with this year. No Packer fan should want the Pack to lose and all in all it is like a break up. I believe that this is the best solution for all those involved.
Please don't break any "exclusives" anymore. Please be a fan, and don't try to "report" from your "sources". Leave the reporting to the real reporters and just be a fan. Nothing wrong with that. Good luck to all of you up there.
As far as I'm concerned if you want to rectify any portion of your Reputation with me you need to post that from the moment you "Broke" the "story" that Brett Favre had been traded to the Tampa Bay Buccanneers AND that you had been "creditted" as the "first" to break said story "worldwide" at NO POINT DID YOU EVER share in that "story" or on this site (until now) that their was a possiblility that your "source" could be completly wrong OR that you were hoping that your "source" was wrong.
"OWN UP TO IT" to what I just typed and that will rectify things with me. NO excuses, NO half truths, NO explainations, NO excerpes, NO quotations just simply admit and own up on this site in writing that what I just typed is exactly what this site did.......
Just heard on ESPN that Farve's preference was the Bucks so the honest, concerned gentlemen in Green Bay sent him New York. I'm certain it had something to do with protecting his legacy.
This is a sad day.
Brett goes to the worst team possible The Jets! I can't stand the Jets. I hope he doesn't show up.
I think this is a one year deal and he will show up playing for the Vikings next year. That's a worldwide exclusive.
Good riddance. Football is a team sport and Brett lost sense of that and turned into a whiner diaper baby boo hoo hoo!If it wasn't going to be all about Brett, he wanted no part of it. Good luck learning a whole new offense in four weeks! We'll see if you can play without your line and killer defense to get you the ball back after your interceptions!
Big head! Bigger baby!
Well Ted Thompson and McCarthy Won. Brett should not show up in New York. Demand his release.
They sent Brett to Siberia. Brett will not win in New York. It will be like Unitas playing for the Chargers.
Packers get their wish they don't have to face Brett all year. What a bunch of wimps.
To the individuals who are so glad to see Farve gone, you are either moles for management or complete ingrates. Let me hear from you when your new boy brings the fame and recognition to Green Bay that Farve has. Don't think I will be hearing from you in this lifetime.
Hey Packer fans have fun losing for the next 10 years. Welcome to the "We Have A Crappy Quarterback Club".
You'll wish you would have treated Favre better later this year when you're in the Basement of the NFC North. All the guy did was win for 10 years. No Packer player has played his heart out more the Favre.
You guys are pathetic. Urlacher is going to knock the snot out of Rodgers. Prepare to feel the WRATH of 'da Bears!!!
Thanks for giving away your QB for nothing. FAVRE don't go to the JETS! We'll miss you in the North.
Sorry Tony but a petition won't get anyone fired from the management. It's business. Players come and go. Get over it dude.
and you say your an entrepeneur but yet you waste your time creating a site that won't do anything? I give you credit for trying though.
Vikes will win the division. Adrian Peterson and Tavaris Jackson will dominate the division. Also, watch out for Jared Allen brittle bones Rogers.
Good luck in New York Brett, we'll miss you.
Go Vikes!
Well, I'm not worried about duh bares, but the Vikes will kill us now. Nice job TT.
Sorry but Jared Allen won't get past Chad Clifton. Last time they played against each other, Allen only got a tackle and a half a sack.
I am glad it is over... but disappointed the Pack didn't want him. Say whatever you want, but at least the team that got Favre wanted him. I was still amazed at why so many people have such hate in their hearts.
Why? Pro Favre Pro Packer management why are you so hateful? Why hate Favre? Why hate the management?
What did Favre do that was so evil? You all have to agree management could have done a better job. You all have to agree Favre could have done a better job. And many on this site could have done a better job.
But is sure was fun
It is a sad night here in Green Bay. I will be buying a #4 Jets jersey as soon as I can find one and I am no longer a Packer fan after the way they treated Favre. Sorry but this management has lied through their teeth all along. I can't wait to see this team lose all their games and Brett take the Jets to the playoffs. Wouldn't that be sweet revenge and I am all for signing a petition to get rid of the THree Stooges, which is exactly what they are. We are the laughing stock of the country right now. Go Brett Go! Best of luck to you!
You and your sources suck!! You call this reporting?
I think that all of this is silly on the part of the Packers. You not only ran a legend off, you will now have the most egotistical GM in the NFL run roughshod over the fans until his ego destroys the team.
For the Packer fans here, you want to stay competitive now? You have to run off TT, and MM (who was a mediocre AD at Northwestern, who hired him to run the Packers?) in order to keep from reverting to the 70's and 80's.
Otherwise, you will be looking up at the Bears, the Vikings, and even the Lions if TT stays around next year.
Screw the Packers and screw their uppity attitude. Favre made that f(#@ing team what it was and Thompson doesn't deserve to kiss the shoes of #4. They should just bring back the 'Majik Man' to resurrect the glory days of the early 90's. It's a shame a town as supportive as this has to deal with a management that will run the team into the tundra.
I am a fan of Brett Favre. I want to watch Brett Favre play football in 2008. If the Packers don't want him, then cudos to the Jets for making this trade happen.
Brett Favre is the bes QB to watch in the hostry of the NFL. He has started every gaome since 1992!! What more can you ask from a QB than that? By starting 275 consecutive games, he reflect not only his toughness, but his ability to play at a high level week in and week out. Starting every doesn't just mean being healthy, it also means providing the team with the best chance to win. Brett Favre has done that and will continue to do that.
He is a gift to the NFL and its fans. Let's enjoy him playing for the Jets and root for a Green Bay Packers- New York Jets Super Bowl XLIII.
I can't help wonder if the current Packer management team would have traded Bart Starr if they had had the chance.
Brett did not deserve to be treated poorly as he was by TT and MM. I hope the packers lose every game until they are fired. I hope soon. I am now a Jet fan as long as the only 3 time MVP is there. Brett was the most honest person and it cost him the Packers trio were all liars from the start. It is a sad day in GB, WI, and throughout the entire NFL. Win it ALL Brett ur the MAN
Go get em Brett win the SB while the Packers go 3-13.
Your sources blow.
Am I crazy? Am I the only one who remembers that Brett Favre retired after last season?!?! Remember that tearful press conference? How can you blame the Packers management when this guy told them he was done?
Management treated him poorly? How about the fact he said he was done, then when there were rumors he was coming back he told Aaron Rodgers they were exactly that: rumors. Now Favre's the good guy that he lied to management then wants back in after the fact.
It's like that Reno 911 episode when everyone thinks they won the lottery then tells everybody off, only to realize they didn't win the lottery and need their job back.
Good for the Packers: way to not give in to this whiner. He can go "retire" for someone else now.
All of you idiots ripping this site for reporting the trade to Tampa are losers. EVERYONE thought he went to Tampa...si.com, ESPN, FOX, everyone! Favre said he would go either place but preferred Tampa, so of course Thompson had to screw Brett AGAIN. He was just afraid of his little boy "A-Rod" getting beaten by Favre. What a sissy! Until Thompson and McCarthy are gone, I'm gone as a Packer fan. I already sold my tickets to some suckers who actually think they'll be worth watching this year! J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!
Brett made the team?? Haha yeah right. Brett didn't even win all of our games for us. Luckily, we had a good defense that got us alot of the wins when Brett played bad.
You know what I don't get? Why run off McCarthy? Just because he didn't bring Brett back? For gods sake he got the team to the championship game last season as did Thompson, who transformed the Pack from 4-12 to 13-3 within a 2 year span and no Brett didn't bring us there. If he did, then we would of never gone 4-12.
Pat,
You were never a true Packer fan. Never. There is more then Brett on the Packers squad. BTW-Your the laughing stock. You unloyal piece of scum. I can't believe some of you fans embarass the tradition of fan loyalty by running off to a new team all because of Brett. Boohoo.
by the way Tony...you said business negotations go bad at last minute. That is exactly what happened with Brett and MM and TT. They thought they had a negotiation only to go bad later on which resulted in the trade.
BTW-There is no such thing as a 'close source' and if it were, wouldn't you think they will notify a more reliable source, where people will actually read it like, ohh I don't know, ESPN?
DP...you're the loser for claiming to be a Packer fan and then choosing not to be a Packer fan when they get rid of ONE guy. Last I checked pretty much everyone else is back from last year.
Brett Favre is an employee!!! The Packers can trade him to whomever they please.
J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!
ha ha! this is great. Best day ever. Pass the champagne, I'll cheers to that trade.
You cool-aid drinking fans have been his puppet for the past 4 years. 1 Super Bowl win in 16 years for a tool you call "the best QB ever"???? Whatever you are smoking, pass it this way. You'll realize your ignorance at some point in the future.
Welcome to the cellar of the NFC North. Get used to it, it will be a long stay.
Does the fact the Packers let Brett go make you angry? Did your football fantasy of the Packers get clouded by corporate politics? Good. It's time recognize that the Green Bay Packers just a corrupt business, a business that makes so much they have give back to the NFL profit sharing!
You know what I say? REPEAL THE SALE TAX! Where the online petition for that. At least that is something that actually affects the majority!
Loyal Packer Fans: no one got screwed over as much as you. I truly am sorry.
Thompson and McCarthy: This is for you ,,!,,
Favre: Even though you brought a lot of this on yourself, I will admit you didn't deserve to be banished to the NFL ghetto for AT BEST a second round draft pick. (And although I have no doubt he will see the vast majority of the snaps this season, if anyone honestly thinks the Jets will reach the Super Bowl and upgrade that pick to a first rounder, pass the pipe.)
To the operators of this site: Although your journalism leaves much to be desired, I admire your passion.
The End.
Hey
I hope you guys don't give up-- I know Favre is gone to the Jets- I wish him well. but please help rid the Packers of these 3 misguided and ignorant individuals. I cannot support the Packers until they are gone. I don't think I am alone in my feelings. I think they have made one of the biggest blunders and tarnished the organization. They were and are negligent, incompetent and really should have to undergo a mental competency exam , in my opinion, Whether you are a Favre supporter or not, he is the best for the Packers team right now and these morons let him slip through their fingers. They made him feel unwelcome and humiliated after all he meant to that franchise. Please put them on that train that McCarthy was yapping about and make sure it is a one way ticket out of town. I will have to put my Packers gear aside until they are gone.Sorry , that's how I feel. I can maybe at some point forgive but I cannot forget. You don't treat a 3time MVP future Hall of Fame player like these clowns did.
Wow. You people disgust me. "I won't cheer for them anymore until they got of Thompson and McCarthy" BOOHOOO! Just because you don't like them doesn't mean you should stop being Packer fans and still cheer on the players. Talk about disloyal.
How many years do you think he'll play as a non-Packer? 10? Come on now. He'll be gone before 2010.
Let me rephrase that..
Just because our management is bad doesn't mean you should stop being a Packer fan and stop cheering on the players that put alot of work to win games for us. Jesus christ people get a hold of yourselves. It isn't like he isn't going to be recognized as a Packer anymore.
I won't get into the credibility of sources, but you need to tread lightly when you 'break' things. You should have said something like "Breaking...it is RUMORED by a good source, close to Favre...that a trade is imminent to the Bucs"...
It's a legal thing in a sue happy country, so be very careful.
As to Brett letting himself be traded to the Jets? God LORD, now I've lost respect for him as well. Do the Jets even win games?
I would have thought it interesting if he'd gone to Tampa Bay because of the rumbling about them trading him then to the Vikings, which I would have laughed at...but the JETS?
Brett, I truly adore you, but this was just too stupid...you should have stayed retired then my dear and set up an organization/camp, whatever to work with promising kids...
Well, I'll be spending my Sundays riding horses this year and not watching football.
PS: Aaron will be hurt and out within the first 3-4 games...it's just Karma.
I can not wait to see you Favre haters crying to bring Brett back when you are the jokes of the NFL again. One thing has remained constant for 16 years in GB and that is Favre. Hurt or not he still played his heart out for you ungratefull fans.
For one of the first posters named Mike. Get some class what are you 15 years old?
Brett traded to
Tampa Baythe New York Jets. Great job with your worldwide breaking news of the wrong information. LOLthis is a joke
Enjoy Jets, you will be a much better team this year. As for us GB fans....it won't be too bad. 'Moving forward' to an 8-8 season should be interesting. Thanks Ted.
Truly enjoyed your "breaking news" about Favre being traded to the Bucs. This just in: you're not a news organization. You're some bozo running a two-bit fan site out of your mom's basement.
At any rate, happy to see Favre go to the Jets. He clearly wanted out of Green Bay and forced Thompson's hand. This on-again, off-again retirement year after year really ran its course. For all the great things he did on the field, it became obvious to most thoughtful observers that he couldn't handle the cold and his ego was too fragile to let Thompson manage the personnel decisions. His crybaby attitude came to the forefront this week when he said he was just too "hurt" to remain a Packer. Brett, good luck at your attempts to get a wild card spot in the NFC East.
You should be ashamed that you tossed aside journalistic integrity in an attempt to be the first to report a story.
HAAAAAAAAA You losers get a life, go on diet and EMBRACE ROGERS!!
GO PACK GO
You will must respect and appreciate Mr. Ted Thompson!!!!
Have fun in NY Brett, don't let the door hit you in teh ass on the way out
We have been reminded by many that professional football is a business. Remember that when any business calculates its net worth an intangible called the goodwill of the business is added to the assets column. I think Green Bay has just driven that figure into the red. Form me the warm, good, proud feeling left and sustained by the Lombardi years has evaporated; hopefully it will return. For that to happen the Packers organization will have to do more than have up to now.
If you had any integrity you'd out the "source" who gave you information that was not true. This is a problem that plagues professional journalism as well as citizen journalism. If a source is going to pass along information anonymously then they damn well better be right or else they're just spreading rumors and that's irresponsible. An anonymous source ought to be held to the caveat that if they're passing incorrect information then they lose anonymity. Otherwise the whole point of anonymous sources is completely rendered useless.
