Brett Favre Traded to Tampa Bay

EXCLUSIVE BREAKING NEWS

(Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 3:52 PM, CT)  The news media will soon be reporting that Brett Favre has been traded to Tampa Bay according to an exclusive SaveBrett.net source close to Favre.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is currently crediting SaveBrett.net with breaking the story worldwide that the deal is all but done.  We expect this news to be the topic of Mike McCarthy's press conference in under an hour.  The mood is "very down and gloomy" at training camp according to Adam Chartier of SaveBrett.net who is on-site.

As a courtesy to fellow Favre supporters we informed the Rolfson brothers, who have organized the Lambeau field rallies, of the news in-person and the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and Green Bay Press Gazette by phone.

We have also received a tip that FlightAware.com is showing a flight that may be scheduled to carry Brett Favre back to Mississippi.

Sign the petition in protest of this terrible decision by the Green Bay Packers management.  Here's to hoping that our source is wrong!

Go Buckos.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterPepsi

i'd rather see him play for the packers, but if he can't he'd be great in tampa bay. just as long as he doesn't play for the vikings - i'll always be a fan. GO BRETT!!

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterpudsue

DOES BRETT HAVE DEANNA'S PERMISSON?

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterPETER NORTH

ooops... sorry for the 3 postings. mistake :)

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterpudsue

Yes!: It's time for the Rodgers Era and to harvest his talent.

Brett retired twice in March, 2008, so let's move on and enjoy.

Kudos to Brett; it's been nice knowing you and thanks to Tampa Bay for a #2 draft choice.

What an unexpected gift! Could be a Top 50 pick in 2009!

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterIn Fact

I am glad Brett gets to play! I am disgraced as a Packer fan how Brett was treated by management. He deserves so much better!

As a positive, I hope the Packers are one giant step closer to getting rid of Mark, Ted, and Mike!

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJon

I would rather see him play for the Vikings or Bears....and see him stick it to TT and MM twice this year and maybe next year.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterExPackerFan

F*ck Favre!

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterD.Favre

Why would anyone protest this? Better to have Favre leave a year too early than a year too late, and this way we get something in return.

Plus, unless Rodgers has the patience of a saint, I don't see how he'd be interested in sticking around after his contract's up this season if he has to put up with this. Then we have Brohm and ????? at QB next season.

I can't believe how many people are showing their colors as being bigger Favre fans than Packer fans.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterexileondaytonstreet

Long overdue. I find Favre to be a liar and an egomaniac. I'm not sorry to see him go.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterPatrickM

That would be a great place for him and I hope he does well. However, I honestly believe he runs the risk of having a miserable season or two before he finally retires. Especially if he tries to run roughshod over a conservative coach game plan. He should enjoy the Tampa area.

I think it would be interesting though......if he had to come back to Green Bay in January for a -10 deg F championship game. Especially after seeing how much he obviously hated being in last years championship game.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBForm

finally! this has been dragged on long enough. its best for the packers to move on anyway. they'll get a couple of picks for brett and use the young talent to go on in the future

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commentera.e.

I am going to cry! No, Brett ... come back! Deanna, talk to him, would ya! I truly feel sick to my stomach.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterSarah B.

Go become Buccaneer fans, then. Favre is one of the all-time Packer greats, but what he has done to this organization is unforgiveable. He has held the organization hostage and lied to fans. What is the organization supposed to do after he retired, flip-flopped twice, and failed to make a committment until the end of July? No one should be bigger than the team, and Favre's indecision has severely damaged the Green Bay Packers. This man is a great football player, but he is not a hero, he is another selfish star athelete.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterChris Bosio

You would like this die hard favre fans would at least get an authentic jersey......

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJon

The only unforgiveable one is Ted Thompson

May his name live in Infamy

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDJ

What did we get?

Hopefully he has fun throwing to Joey Galloway & Ike Hilliard!

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commentermatt

good riddance

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterpacker fan since 1961

The first thing Favre will do when he arives in TB is demand a trade for Randy Moss.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterpoygankid

Terrible decision by the Packers. I hope this doesn't institute a "Curse of Favre" on the organization for its arrogance and callousness toward the greatest player in franchise history.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterLomabardi's Ghost

we will miss ya brett

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterruss hoff

Don't go to Packers practices or games to boo Aaron Rodgers. Brett Favre and management have handled this situation so poorly; Rodgers is in a terrible position that he never asked for. Booing Rodgers or any of the Packers players is the type of classless move reserved for Cubs fans.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterChris Bosio

Buh-bye!!! I USED to be a huge Brett Favre fan, but his ego has unfortunately consumed everything "good" I thought he ever stood for.
I'm a GREEN BAY PACKERS fan, first and foremost. NOBODY is ever bigger than the team and from the looks of it, we just got rid of someone who thought just that.

Just like there's no "messiah" presidential candidate, there's no "messiah" in Green Bay either. I hope they find a cargo plane big enough to fit his ego into and fly it straight out of GB.

John

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJohn in Wausau

Let's get rid of Thompson. He just wants his pick - AR (as well as others) - as QB. His ego is in the way - he wants to make his mark on the Packers. Guess he is - it's jsut a black one.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMmmmmmm

Thank God. I got to see Brett play his last regular season game as a Packer and I thank him for bringing a title to Green Bay when I was a kid.

But it's time we move on from the melodrama. Go AR and go Pack!

Diddo Chris

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterpoygankid

It is inevitable that Brett leaves Green Bay. While the Packers manifested the problem, Brett appears to have become bigger than the team. Take a look at his complaints, they were all GM related....well isn't he the QB. Let him take some of 110 million he made with the Pack and buy a team then he can be a GM. Sadly, let him go to Tampa, I think both Brett and the Packers will take their lumps this year.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterGmac

I hope you're right. Brett, and his lies, will not be missed.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterPaul G

I'm sorry to see Favre leave. However, I am content with extra draft picks via a trade with Tampa.

TT and MM better be right about Rodgers. Otherwise, they'll have some explaining to do to Packer Nation if/when he gets hurt or fails.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBMan

They should have on this site a petition to have ted thompson fired......

To:

Ted Thompson & Packer Executive Board,

Congratulations, for one of the greatest NFL football blunders of all time.

Take my stock & tickets, I'm done.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBy Packers.

What a whiner. Good riddance to the bum. Hold the team hostage and whine to the media. No different than what he got Javon Walker run out of town for. I won't miss the big game chokes either.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterme

Where are they seeing this? It isn't reported on jsonline yet.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterChris Bosio

Favre will demand that Bruce Allen remove Jon Gruden and replace him with Steve Mariucci. If not, he won't report to camp.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterdillhole

Anyone blaming the orginizatioin is crazy, it's not like we're getting rid of favre after the 1996 season, he's a 39 year old ego that put this on himself. Those of you calling for Mark's, Mike's or Ted's head are probably the same idiots who thought Sherman, I mean Pear Shaped Loser (PSL) was doing a great job and shouldn't have been canned. Wake up GB the future is Rogers and you knew this day was coming. Keeping Brett is only going to divide the locker room and hurt our future. We owe nothing to Brett, he was paid quite well, and this is a business decision.

Remember when Favre told the media that the Packers "shouldn't give in" to Javon Walker's contract demands? Classic.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterChris Bosio

Remember, he's on the cover of Madden this year... expect an injury

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHupperware

Packers Management is a JOKE! What if Rodgers gets hurt? Guess I'll be rooting for a new team this year. I can't believe they treated Brett this way!

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKim from northern Wis!!

You guys apparently have inside sources -- congrats on scooping ESPN, SI, the Journal Sentinel and everyone else. This is confirmed, right?

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTBone

The Packers should also include Driver in the deal so he has a chance at a Super Bowl now that TT has robbed him of a chance to get there as a Packer!

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterHouston Pete

I will always be a Brett fan..he is the reason I became a packer fan! I am loyal to the packers but Brett first...I support whatever he does...it's just a shame the packers are turning this whole situation so ugly! LOVE YOU BRETT!!

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenteriluvbrett

Well, the Packers have done it. This is a huge blunder and they will regret it

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterml1217

this is the worst PR job ever. i am glad favre gets to play and i hope the packers find new people at the top who know how to handle problems without doublespeak, lies and political parlance.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterpat from franklin

Sorry.. wish you woulda kept him. Great player, but i don't want him here/now.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBuc_Fan

Ted Thompson's career will not survive this.
What a complete f*ck up.

Brett SHOULD BE IN GREEN AND GOLD this year, but if TT feels so strongly that Rogers is his man, he should have just granted Favre his release.

Sounds now like all of the stuff about Brett waffling after his retirement announcement wasnt true, either. This is all about saving face.

The Packers just traded their best QB, and the best in franchise history, for no reason other than pride and ego. SHAMEFUL.

August 5, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDOWN

I am really tired with this "baby"! The packer's were willing to let him compete and it was him who declined... fine, he just wanted out of Green Bay from the beginning!!Say goodbye and let's move on!!
