Associated Press Picks Up Story About SaveBrett.net Movement

Today the Associated Press has sent a story about SaveBrett.net over its national news wire.  Stories about our movement are now beginning to pop up in places like South Dakota, Indiana, and Georgia.  A radio station from New Hampshire even emailed us to do an interview about our effort and a radio station in Canada linked to us from their site.

The AP article reads as follows: "The start of the football season is still several weeks away. But fans of the sport are in the grip of the Brett Favre saga. Some Green Bay Packers fans have launched a Web site in an effort to keep the quarterback in the green and gold for another season, despite his decision to retire during the off-season. Now that he says he wants back in, the site is trying to huddle up enough signatures to force the Pack to take Brett back, something the team seems reluctant to do. On the 'Net: Save Brett site: http://savebrett.net"

The roar of fan support for Brett Favre is growing so loud it is now a national news story.  Add your voice to the growing chorus of support for Brett Favre.  For the good of the game help make sure that a genuine American hero is not mistreated by the Green Bay Packer management.

When is your next rally?? The recent article about Farve not being allowed to try out should incite more people.

I has now become obvious that Ted Thompson and the coach are nothing but untruthful people. They have some agenda against Favre that is like smoke and mirrors. They always talk about the team but now the success of the team. How could anyone want to trade their top quarterback. When they now say he cannot compete for the job is beyond belief. I would totally agree that if any of the quarterbacks were better than Farve, they should play. However, this is not the case. They know who the best quarterback but want to trade him for exceptional value. Someone-probably a mediator-must settle this mess. This probably is a close to a legal mess. This seems close to job discrimination. You tell someone that even if you are better, this is not your job anymore. I hope stockholders demand the best team for return on their investment. Probably more than 99% of NFL experts say he is the best of the quarterbacks.

Some major stockholder needs to start a FIRE TED THOMPSON CAMPAIGN. This man has no conscience, and seems to care only for himself and players he acquired. People like him are dangerous. What if he says " Driver and Gennings are the two best receivers, but they cannot compete for their position"
Any team anywhere, needs to put their best on the field. We are talking about the face of the Packers, a person who has been a role model for kids. Has he ever had a legal problem?

The receivers name above should have been Driver and Jennings, not Gennings. Sorry Greg!

The Packer management is stuck in the mudhole they made. I believe to be successful, this petition needs to be delivered to the commish as well. Let him see for himself the great impact on football this is beginning to have!!!

I cannot wait for this petition to embody enough outrage to fill Lambeau Field. That means 73,000 signatures. I wonder if the board of directors/shareholders will get the entire picture then. I'm also proud as a football fan to see fans of other teams recognizing the outrage of this saga given the caliber of person and football player that Brett Favre is. I wish that such an online form of expression/boycott existed the day that Montana was traded from San Francisco. That was a sad day for football in my mind and I cannot believe the nightmare of that travesty is being revisited in Green Bay, WI. The people of Green Bay and the state of Wisconsin should be organizing and boycotting Lambeau Field in large numbers given the scale of this wrongdoing. This is Brett Favre people!

If Favre has two years left on his contract, why don't the Packers have to honor that.

Football and the NFL are better with Favre in the game.

To answer Sally's question, Packer brass now has no honor. This corruption needs to go!!

Why haven't the players union done something? Isn't it illegal to withold a job from some one? He didn't sign his retirement papers so he should still have a job right?

Ted Thompson is making the biggest mistake and he is going to regret not giving Favre the job. Aaron Rodgers needs to go. If the Packers want to have a chance at the Super Bowl then the job belongs to Brett. Ted put your dislikes aside and do what is best for the organization and put Brett back in his place. You are an idiot if you don't.

If we could just please, please have him back for one more season. I will eat boogers every day for lunch to show my appreciation.

July 29, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterBrettfan

Brett isn't being mistreated. Thompson is doing the right thing in this saga. I have no idea how Brett Favre has any support left after the way he's mistreated the Packers.

Were this happening with my team, I would boo the player without hesitation if he returned.

An arbitrator must settle this mess. Management has the upper hand against one player. They smoke and mirrors bunch will continue to lie and deceive. They have no conscience and are dangerous for such a great franchise.
