19,000 Signatures and Climbing ... 20,000 Likely Before Trade Officially Announced!

Petition signatures protesting Brett's trade to Tampa Bay continue to flood in at a steady pace.  Today we passed 19,000 signatures at a pace that will exceed 20,000 before the trade is even officially announced.

Yesterday, following our breaking of the news that Favre was destined for Tampa our site was overwhelmed with a surge of visitors.  Signatures were added at such a fast rate that our petition website crashed for approximately 20 minutes under the strain of unprecedented demand.

It is clear that Packers managment has seriously underestimated the fan outrage that has greeted this most recent mis-step.  Help us reach 20,000 petition signatures before Brett's trade is officially announced.

Sign the petition in protest of this terrible decision by the Green Bay Packers management.  Here's to hoping that our source is wrong!

I hope all Packer fans are preparing for the Curse of Brett Favre, becuase our beloved GBP front office, specifically Thompson and Murphy don't want one of the top ten QB's behind center. Instead they say it's Aaron's time. When was the last time you heard a professional Football team replace a veteran under the pretense that it the other players time? NEVER. This is unimaginable. I never thought this great organization would treat one of their legends like an ememy of the nation. This is a VERY sad day in Packer Nation.

This whole Favre situation has been a mess since the beginning, and it was completely unnecesary and avoidable. Packer management has made a horrible mistake and they keep digging themselves further and deeper in the hole. I commend you for your website and for trying to keep us informed, as well as giving us a venue to communicate and vent. Keep up the good work. Also, I encourage your visitors to go to this website and sign this petition as well to get rid of Ted T. Please go to the following: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/FIRE-TED-THOMPSON or cut and paste this onto your internet browser.

I think Brett may just NOT play. His love is football, his greatest love is his fellow players and Green Bay.

The best thing for him may be to sit in Mississippi and laugh in their face with the BOYTOY gets hurt in pre-season and can't play for the rest of the season and the Packers come begging and he LAUGHS

This is so unbelieveable!!! The best comment was to fire the 3 stooges, Thompson, McCarthy, and Murphy!! The Packers have been low before, but this is sucking the bottom of the pond!
Don't know if I can even, bear to watch my beloved Packers this fall. S0 SAD!!

While I live in Rhode Island I have been a Packer fan all of my life. I cannot believe that Packer Management has shown Favre the door. This entire sordid affair exposes a weakness in the Packers organization. Management is not accountable to an owner. As a Packer shareholder and corporate attorney let's do something productive like put together our own slate of Directors for next year's annual meeting. It will take some organizing but you can be sure it will get management's attention. The existing Board is nothing but an old boys network that is a "rubber stamp" for management. Let's do this!

To all you Favre lovers out there:

it was nice of him to give a press conference or say anything for that matter before he left town. Look like he really gives a crap about all the fans that supported him for these 16 seasons. What a guy.

How you stick up for a guy unconditionally who doesn't even have the class to leave gracfully will always baffel me. Maybe the packers could have done a few things differently but Favre would Bush League throughout.

I live near DC and I knew this is what TT had planned when they hired Ari F. What else would they have hired a "spin master" for?

It's been posted that neither TT or MM would return Brett's calls when he arrived Friday night, he wasn't allowed on the field or in the locker room before Family Night. That doesn't sound like they were "welcoming him back with open arms" to me.

My husband has been a fan since J. Kramer and he converted me and our sons have only known Brett. We'll cheer for the Pack, but our oldest just did the printing for Tampa and I'll be wearing a TBB jersey for Brett if he goes there and I hope he kicks AR's butt.

Anyone notice that TT, MM, and MM (all the gues in charge) all have double initials? Kind of like a cult or something, huh? Hope they treat TT like he treated Brett and I hope Brett holds a press conference and tells it all!

What did you want him to say? That he wasn't even allowed in for Family Night? That he wasn't given the chance to compete for his job, contrary to Murphy's comments as posted?

If it was me I would be mighty po'ed too.

Fire the 3 stooges

Good post, Greg. Think about it. If Brett is traded, that will have been his last time at a Packer facility with fans around.

Pretty classless - I have to agree.

Why is it that none of the people with hate in their heart for Favre will never sign their name?

August 6, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMike Noffke

Even if you get a million signatures on this petition, how will this petition get Brett back or prevent him from being traded? Packers management could care less about how the fans feel and what we want. It's all about their egos and this petition won't make a difference in the end. Remember, Brett said he can't get "over" how badly he was treated by management and that's why he is moving on. Too much damage has been done by TT, MM & MM to BF and I have not heard any apologies coming out of their mouths nor have I heard them make any statements that they tried to heal the soreness or make it right with Brett.

Favre speaks in Mississippi
5:20 p.m.

A Hattiesburg, Miss., TV station (WDAM, the NBC affiliate) posted a 2-minute, 18-second edited version of Favre's comments to local reporters when his plane landed. The questions were edited out, but here's a transcript of what Favre said:

"I'd like to say I feel pretty good, but at the rate I'm going right now I don't know what I'm going to be doing. Bus said I might end playing quarterback for Oak Grove High School. If I don't get to working out and doing something, I don't even know if I can do that. I feel good, I do. This has been very taxing on me, my family and everyone involved on both sides.

"I've got to get back to the frame of mind of just going to play. We've got to resolve that. If we can't, we can't. Who knows what will happen, but we're trying to do that quicker rather than later.

"I'm tired. I knew going up there it was more formality than anything, something I had to do. I didn't think I'd be up there too long, and I wasn't. I had kind of been locked in my house (in Green Bay) the last couple of days. The fans in Green Bay were awesome, at least on my side. I think that the most important thing was to get that resolved up there. Green Bay has been just awesome to me and my family. It's obviously a mess up there right now, but it can be cleaned up. They've got really good players, good coaching, but it's time they moved on, one way or another.

"The bottom line in all of this is playing football. I've always been committed to my job. I know people say I should put the personal issues aside, and I agree, but I couldn't do that. On their part, they obviously had taken the stance at some point during this offseason that they were going to move on, and that's OK. They sort of changed that stance when I got back up there. We sort of figured that would happen. Otherwise they would have released me, but they didn't want to do that, which I understand.

"As much history as I have in Green Bay and success, I really didn't see the positives that could come out it. It was always going to be a distraction. It was best that they had a clear-cut path they were going to go on. If I'm going to play, I'll try to play elsewhere and see what happens."

I think what upsets me the most is the division amongst loyal Packer fans this whole situation is causing. Brett Favre retired - by his own doing and by his own words. Most all devoted Packer fans cried right along with him as we watched him give such a heart felt thanks and good-bye to the sport and the fans that had stood by him for so many years. If I remember correctly he said he "didn't have what it takes anymore". Why should the Packer organization and the fans have to erase all that because Brett had some time off and now thinks he might have what it takes. It is time to move on and support our team. If Brett wants to "unretire" - so be it - but not at the cost of the team the Packer organization has rebuilt with out him and moved on to.

I watched a scrimmage a couple of nights ago and the fans booed Aaron Rodgers when he threw some incomplete passes - which wasn't a memorable in itself what was memorable was the fact that loyal Packer fans were booing him. Since when do Packer fans boo their team ? This state is known around the country for standing by their team no matter what. Are we really going to end all that over this ?? Quite honestly - I'm not so convinced Brett even wanted to come back to play for the Packers - is it possible that he and his business manager know how to play their cards really well ?? I have a feeling the truth lies somewhere right in the middle of it all.

August 6, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterKatie Olson

I feel Brett was wronged terribly, as where the Brett fans. I was so excited to hear he was coming back, I was besides myself. Than just to hear the Packers don't want him back. Wether he is the right mind set or not why wouldn't you play him( cough cough.. cover up,trying to spin there lies). You know he will give everything he has. Yes Brett is risky but that is what makes him so much fun to watch.

I have always been a football fan, I am terribly girly girl LOVE PINK.I foun one Monday night I found something I love something as much as pink Brett Favre he was upbeat and friendly even to the other team. I fell in love, been a Packers fan ever since for 13 years now.I guess I can say I am girly girl with two sides.. the girl that wont miss a Packers game. I only love the Packers though for one reason it is Brett Favre yes I have come to find myself liking other players(Donald)still not enough to keep watching expesically with what this managment has done.

Ted you need to check your ego at the door, who wouldn't want a future hall of fame qb leading your team. Eventually the truth will come out and you are going to look like an even bigger dumba$$ than you already do if that is possible. Play Brett or lose fans that simple!!!

I've been truly surprised at all of the great insights written from not only Chicago Writers but writers on the West Coast. This is truly a sad day for me as a football fan. I've never been to Lambeau Field (during a game at least), but I will proudly wear a Favre jersey of his new team the first game I attend at Lambeau Field. In the meantime, my Packer loyalties are non-existent until the Three Stooges are sent packing. All of the looney wagon hoppers who have visited this site and others that drink the Kool-Aid that the Packers General Management is selling can kiss off as well! Being a Packer's fan means being a football fan first; not a franchise loyalist. The best interest of the franchise is winning a Super Bowl and China Rodgers will never be the man for that job. Good job Ted Thompson/Mike McCarthy/Mark Murphy and the brain-dead cult that supports the three of you.

Can someone do some research and link to factual data of a CEO or GM of any company in the US that has been able to keep there job with this many different people flaming on them?

Just the facts with supportable data
not emotional rants. But actual data driven instances where anything like this

After being treated like a total unwanted outsider Favre could not play under such treatment. Still his future is unknown. Press conferences under such conditions would be more than difficult. For some like Woodson to say he did not want to play for them is a sample of his mentality. I hope this good but aging veteran has to deal with the same treatment Favre received. No one deserves it more than him after the comments he made on tv. I hope he gets what he deserves some day. As Packer fan for more than 30 years, I now hope they and Mr. Woodson have the same seasons they had before the days of Mr. Brett Favre. And lastly, Mr. Woodson you are as dumb as your ridiculous to look at.

August 6, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterwoodsonbum

Woodson is a total idiot along with the Packer Brass, all of which are tarnished. I hope all packer fans will boycott the games and merchandise sales. Perhaps they can see that they are acting likes of Enron, Ford, GM, and many other fading companies who ignored the fans and customers. Perhaps the financial situation in Packer Land will approach or surpass these failing corporations.

August 6, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterWoodsonburner

Woodson is sick.

August 6, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterWoodsonburner

Well can you blame Woodson for what he is saying? Did you notice what circus Brett was causing up there? Those players have to sit through interviews where Brett is brought up everytime and practices where fans distract them by chanting 'Bring Brett Back'.

and no one will boycott the sales. There are plenty of other loyal Packer fans (other then you)that will still buy Packer things and still cheer on the Packers despite Brett not being there. No one will boycott the games either. The Packers were sold out BEFORE Brett even came so if you expect no one to be there, think again.

August 7, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJ-Man

J-man it wasnt Favre causing your circus. It was the packer brass. how they are treating BF is what is causing the problems. they act like they changed so much this off season. I love those new incomplete pass routes they ran the other night.J-man do you know anything about football??? I think you are Ted Thompson using J-man as a cover.I can hardly wait till (China Rodgers) goes down. 4 games Vikings on monday night will put him in the hospital. 5-11 season at best. Fire the three stooges. signed ex-50 year packer fan.

August 7, 2008 | Unregistered Commentergunny

Ted and Mark must be in protective custody after this one. That is a tremendous amount of weight to carry after trading the greatest QB to date. The ego must just eat those idiots alive. Those douche bags could not even attend the press conference with Mike to field some of the questions, even though the media was light on McCarthy Tuesday. In the end our legend will be gone and so will the management. No one wins! Even if Favre had only 1-2 years left in the tank we should have been expected to make the NFC championship game.

August 7, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterTedtheclown

Who cares about the dumb petition, you guys have as big an ego as Ted Thompson and Brett Favre combined.

Get a life!

August 7, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAlways a Packer fan!

The very best to Brett and the Jets. The very worst to the three who traded him away. I will agree that Woodson was a harsh one. I also hope he gets the same treatment some day.I am sure the franchise will survive, but not with support from this loyal fan of the past. If those named Thompson, McCarthy, and Murphy leave I will return support. As long as they are there I hope the team has little success. They appear to be very untruthful people somewhat like political figures who try to say what people want to hear. It was obvious that McCarthy was not going to give any correct or accurate answer. He will be forever remembered for the half-truth answers he gave today. I am still amazed that the Favre/Packer haters sign this petition. It is also beyone belief they use the kind of abusive language they do. And lastly Tony, we appreciate what you tried to do. Maybe the end results were not what we wanted, but your effort is not questioned by me. Good luck Tony, you will always be remembered for your effort to keep him.

August 7, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterbobwhite

I'm not sure how 20,000 signatures represents the "vast majority" of Packers fans, considering 20,000 people doesn't even cover a majority of fans in Lambeau on game day, not to mention the 80,000 on the season ticket waiting list. While 20,000 is an impressive number, please realize that, at most, this debate is split down the middle 50-50, and honestly, from the polls that I have seen and the people who I have talked to, the vast majority actually are happy this is over and that he has moved on.

August 7, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAndy

Gunny,

Since when do you drag Rodgers into this? What did he do wrong? All he is doing is replacing Brett. Is that such a hard thing to realize? He is doing what he is told and that is replacing Favre.

and thank god your a ex Packer fan. We don't need your kind ruining our terrifc, loyal fan base. Notice the word "loyal" in it, which is what you lack.
